Martin Frolik is a lawyer at PRK Partners specialising in compliance, regulatory, reputational and other types of non-financial risk management in business corporations, as well as in administrative proceedings, banking, dispute resolution, capital markets and securities law.
Martin completed his Master’s (Mgr.) studies in law at the Faculty of Law of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen in 2004 (1999-2004), and received a Bachelor’s (Bc.) degree in Japanese studies from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in 2009. Between 2007 and 2008, Martin spent one year studying at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Martin is also accredited as a Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP).
Since 2005 Martin has specialised in banking and capital markets. Over the course of his career he garnered experience in financial markets legislation at the Czech Securities Commission, the Czech National Bank and the Ministry of Finance. Martin gained particular insight in compliance management in the highly regulated environment of financial institutions, while with one of the three largest financial groups in the Czech Republic – first, beginning in 2011, as a compliance specialist and team leader with a bank, and from 2014 to 2017 as the head of the legal and compliance department, and while working as a management consultant for a brokerage firm. Martin joined PRK Partners in August 2017.
Martin is an expert in implementing partial as well as comprehensive compliance programmes, ranging from the monitoring of legislative changes and gap analyses to ad-hoc and regular effectivity monitoring. Martin is also qualified in supporting the activities of effective risk management systems, including managing implementation teams, preparing IT business requirements and setting-up and implementing in-group projects, programme and control reporting activities. Finally, Martin has a successful track record in representing organisations during regulatory inspections, sanctions and administrative proceedings, as well as in crisis management coordination.
Martin is fluent in Czech, English and has an intermediate command of Japanese.
