Krisztina Rozgonyi appointed as director of World Bank Initiative for Eastern European and Central Asian Infocommunication and Technology program
Dr. Krisztina Rozgonyi, former chair of the Hungarian National Communication Authority and current head of the TMT practice at PRK Partners, a leading CEE regional law firm, has been appointed as the director of WorldBank/InfoDev program responsible for Infocommunication and Technology Development in the Eastern European and Central Asian region.
The project’s aim is to build sustained capacity on ICT policy-making and regulation with a particular focus on public officials and regulators working in the ICT sector from countries included in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region as well as Students in existing academic programs in related fields.
Dr. Krisztina Rozgonyi, former chair of the Hungarian National Communication Authority, who currently heads the TMT practice group at PRK Partners, a leading CEE regional law firm, was appointed as director responsible for ICT policy-making and regulatory development programs of World Bank in the areas of Infocommunication and Technology in the Eastern European and Central- Asian region.
The development project is financed by the World Bank and run by Annenberg Centre of Communications (University of Pennsylvania), Media Institute of Oxford University, the American University of Central Asia, the American University of Armenia and Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association (GREANA).
The project aims is to build sustained capacity on ICT policy-making and regulation with a particular focus on two target audiences: (1) Public officials and regulators working in the ICT from countries included in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region; and (2) Students in existing academic programs in related fields. The development program embraces eleven countries (Ukraine, Byelorussia, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan) and is dedicated to deal with issues on creation of broadband infrastructure, expansion of high-speed mobile technology, regulation of spectrum and broadband contents.
In addition to management of the project, Krisztina continues her role as chief legal and regulatory advisor on digital switchover for the Government of Republic of Serbia within the consortium led by the BBC World Service Trust (BBC WST). She also continues her robust legal practice as TMT partner at PRK Partners Budapest office, advising a host of clients on media and telecom regulatory issues.
Background:
Dr. Rozgonyi graduated from the ELTE Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Communication of ELTE University of Science; she received an MBA degree from the CEU Business School. Presently, she is the leader of TMT branch in PRK Partners International Law Office, and senior legal and regulatory advisor concerned with digital switch over of the Government of Republic of Serbia on behalf of BBC WST and the European Commission.
Between 2006 and 2009 she was the vice-president of the Hungarian National Communication Authority, later its president until 2010. Previously, she represented and gave advice to telecommunication and media corporations as an attorney, and she was the advisor of the Cultural Committee of the Parliament.

In the framework of this program, the present project’s objective is to support the evolution and development of the policy and regulatory background partly by training the governmental, regulatory authorities and experts, partly by the assistance in education and amelioration of syllabus for universities and scientific institutions in the region.
